Monarch Garden
WONDERFUL NEWS AGAIN!
Monarch population has increased by 64% this year and is up two years in a row. This means we are now at around 50% of the required number of monarchs to sustain the population. So we still need to do more good work. Let's get ready to provide food and habitat.
In late May, monarchs reach Ontario and need milkweed to lay their eggs on to reproduce, since milkweed is the only food source for monarch caterpillars.
In the fall, monarchs need late-season nectar to fuel up before migrating over Lake Erie and to the Oyamel Fir forests of Mexico.
