Soft Landing

Trees are the most important host plants for many different insects including butterflies. Many insects need a safe place to land when they let themselves fall off trees to complete their metamorphoses. Lawns are compacted and get mowed, therefore it is important to create soft landings for insects under native trees. Trees will also stay healthier if they grow alongside other native plants in not compacted soil.
